Papantonio Book Signing Wednesday at The District

Edward Jones–Cosentino Wealth Management Team sponsors an evening with the Pensacola attorney and legal thriller author—every guest gets a copy of his newest novel.

Mike Papantonio will sign copies of his new legal thriller A Death in Arcadia at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, at The District, 123 East Government Street, Pensacola. The event is open to the public and sponsored by Edward Jones–Cosentino Wealth Management Team, and each guest will receive a complimentary copy of the book.

A Death in Arcadia is the latest installment in Papantonio’s series featuring Pensacola trial lawyer Nicholas “Deke” Deketomis. Deke takes on Phoenix Industries, the corporate owner of a Florida juvenile facility where a guard has murdered a teenager. The case forces Deke to confront both a corrupt industry and long-buried guilt from his own past.

“It’s entertaining, it’s definitely a thriller—and it’s informative.”
—Mike Papantonio

The novel draws on the real history of the Arthur G. Dozier School for Boys in Marianna—the infamous reform school that operated from 1900 to 2011 and became notorious for unmarked graves, beatings and sexual abuse. Papantonio argues the institutional brutality that defined Dozier’s life lives on inside today’s for-profit juvenile facility industry, which he calls the “troubled teen industry.”

  • To research the book, Papantonio interviewed Paris Hilton, who has spoken publicly about abuse she suffered in multiple residential treatment facilities as a teenager. “Whether it’s Paris Hilton, who was victimized horribly in four different institutions, or whether it’s just the run-of-the-mill kid who gets in a little trouble and is thrown into these institutions,” Papantonio has said, “this crosses every demographic.”
