The Greater Pensacola Chamber and the Florida SBDC at UWF are joining forces to host a one-hour, no-cost workshop on helping businesses receive media coverage. Attendees will learn how to write and properly format a press release, create a media kit and cultivate relationships with media partners.
The workshop will be taught by Rebecca Stauffacher, Marketing and Communications Specialist for the Greater Pensacola Chamber, and Mandy Fernandez, Marketing and Training Specialist for the Florida SBDC at UWF. Stauffacher will explain a step-by-step process of how to construct a press release with sample sections, quotes and tips for writing each part. Fernandez will provide samples and handouts of successful business media kits. She will also suggest how owners can be selected as future business story features in various regional and state-wide publications.
âSmall business owners have their own unique story. This workshop is designed to help them share that message and their community involvement to media outlets. The Florida SBDC at UWF and the Greater Pensacola Chamber can offer tips on how entrepreneurs can be prepared for opportunities to be in the press,â explained Fernandez.
