Pensacola City Council told Fire Chief and Deputy Chief focus of the investigation

Assistant City Attorney Rusty Wells has been briefing the city council privately on the investigation that prompted City Administrator Eric Olson to place Fire Chief Matt Schmitt and Deputy Chief Joe Glover on administrative leave.

The council members were instructed to not share the details of Well’s briefing. However, one council member disagrees with what Assistant City Administrator Keith Wilkins told PNJ reporter Will Isern— that Schmitt and Glover were not the focus.

Why?

Because Wells is telling the council that the two Pensacola Fire Department leaders are the focus. The council member who called Inweekly this afternoon refused to give any other details, only that Wilkins misstated the investigation’s focus.
