Pensacola poets Katheryn Holmes, Jeff Santosuosso and Andrea Walker are looking for innovative, international voices for Panoply, a new online literary magazine. The trio is bringing Santosuossoâs vision to reality after months of developing criteria, creating submission guidelines and building a website. The ezine will launch in early fall.
According to Holmes, one of the biggest challenges was selecting a name. âAfter passionate debate, we chose Panoply because the definition signifies a collection that is a wide-ranging and impressive array or display of writing.”
Santosuosso predicts the electronic magazine will live up to its name because of the variety of genre accepted — short fiction, poetry and nonfiction. The editors are also seeking a wide variety of writing styles, voices and points of view including avant garde pieces, Holmes explained. Work is accepted based on talent and merit but published pieces will be no longer than 500 words.
The rise in online literary publications correlates with the renaissance of poetry and creative writing, says Santosuosso, a member of Florida State Poetâs Assn., former member of Dallas Poets Community and past board member of West Florida Literary Federation. Panoply will be one of thousands globally but will offer a quarterly opportunity for writers to submit lively insights in creativity, outlook, perspective and analysis.
Holmes has published five books of poetry, is a partner in K & K Manuscript Editing and a member of West Florida Literary Federation Board of Directors. Walker is an adjunct instructor at Pensacola State College, a frequent contributor to the Pensacola News Journal and editor of West Florida Literary Federation newsletter The Legend. Though all three have served on West Florida Literary Federationâs Board, Panoply is not associated with the organization.
The first deadline is July 5. Submissions guidelines are available at panoplyzine.com. To submit go to https://panoplyzine.submittable.com/submit/. All issues will remain archived and copyright remains with the author.
