PS today: Govt that works and FBI lab scandal

Radio11
Today on Pensacola Speaks, I will interview author John Bernard on his book “Government That Works.”

Bernard has successfully gotten governments to apply a lean management approach. At the state level, he has helped the New Mexico Motor Vehicle Division reduce wait times from 96 minutes to less than 10. Colorado’s Office of State Planning and Budgeting redesigned a process for key documents and saw a savings of $2.1 million.

I look forward to the conversation.

The Washington Post reported this weekend that the Justice Department and FBI have formally acknowledged that nearly every examiner in FBI Laboratory’s microscopic hair comparison unit gave flawed testimony over a two-decade period before 2000.

Florida has the most cases that were reviewed for the story: 42. Ten are on Death row, one has been executed, one exonerated.

Criminal defense attorney Eric Stevenson will come on the show to talk about this. We will also cover the latest of victims hurt the 2014 jail explosion.

Pensacola Speaks airs on News Talk 1370 WCOA Monday-Friday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. You can call in and join the discussion – 850-478-3116. For iPhones and iPads, download the WCOA app from iTunes. For Androids, go to Google Play. Podcasts of our interviews are on  PodOmatic and iTunes.
