Read Across Pensacola Day Extravaganza on March 8

ReadyKids! will host Read Across Pensacola Day Extravaganza from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, at Wedgewood Community Center, 6405 Wagner Road.

This free, family-friendly event invites children of all ages and their families to celebrate the joy of reading with an exciting lineup of activities, including:

· Live story time sessions featuring hometown heroes and community leaders
· Book giveaways to help build home libraries
· Costumed characters bringing favorite stories to life
· Balloon animals, face painting, and crafts for hands-on fun
· More than a dozen agencies sharing local resources to support families

A special highlight of the event is story time led by local heroes, including members of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, Escambia County Fire Rescue, and published local authors.

“Read Across Pensacola Day is more than just an event—it’s a movement to inspire a love for reading that lasts a lifetime,” said ReadyKids! Executive Director Kristy Craig. “By making literacy fun, interactive, and accessible, we’re strengthening families, fostering young minds, and helping children see that reading opens the door to endless possibilities.”

Read Across Pensacola Day is inspired by the national Read Across America initiative, uniting communities across the country in the shared mission of promoting literacy and fostering a love of books among young readers.

The 2025 Read Across Pensacola Day Extravaganza is proudly presented by Cardoso Law, PLLC, and PenAir Credit Union.
