ReadyKids! Invites Families to Free “Kindergarten, Here We Come!” Event
Free books, school supplies and hands-on readiness activities await incoming kindergartners at an Aug. 1 event at St. Christopher’s Church.
Local families with kids headed into kindergarten this fall have a free resource fair to circle on the calendar. ReadyKids!, a Pensacola nonprofit focused on early literacy, is hosting Kindergarten, Here We Come! on Saturday, Aug. 1, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Christopher’s Church, 3200 N. 12th Ave. Families can drop in any time during the event window — no registration required.
The event is built around interactive games and learning stations that let kids practice the basics they’ll need on day one: recognizing letters, writing their name, counting, following directions and taking turns.

While the activities are geared toward incoming kindergartners, ReadyKids! is encouraging the whole family to come out and take part.

ReadyKids! is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a leader in early literacy for pre-kindergarten students in Escambia County, working 1:1 with students, engaging families as a child’s first teacher, and supporting educators to boost school readiness.
This past school year, the nonprofit’s ReadingPals’ program at Brentwood Elementary School helped 20 of 29 participating Pre-K students reach or exceed the state benchmark for kindergarten readiness. Every child who completed both assessments improved their scores: 24 students gained at least 30 points, and 10 improved by more than 100 points. An Escambia Children’s Trust C.A.R.E. (Community, Access, Resilience and Empowerment) grant supported the program. To volunteer, visit readykidsfl.org.
