Reds GM praises Blue Wahoos

Zach Buchanan, Reds beat reporter for the Cincinnati Enquirer, is covering the MLB Winter Meetings. He wrote about Blue Wahoos co-owner Bubba Watson’s appearance and the announcement of the ball club winning the prestigious Bob Freitas Award.

Reds general manager Dick Williams said of the award: “That’s a reflection of what you guys control, the operations. The players come and go and you don’t have as much control over there. It’s great to go to the playoffs, but what you guys control is how the organization is perceived.”

The Southern League named the Blue Wahoos its Organization of the Year last season, and Watson had championship rings made for the entire staff. Buchanan teased, “He may have to top that now.”
