Christmas in August: Santa Rosa could get new patrol cars. Thank you, Escambia County

WEAR TV reports Santa Rosa County Sheriff Wendell Hall is planning some upgrades thanks to the influx of cash from Escambia County for housing the Escambia inmates.

Since the Escambia County Jail exploded in April, inmates have been sent to Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, and Walton County jails. Escambia County has to pay a fee to house each inmate – $58 per inmate per day to Santa Rosa.

While the Santa Rosa County Commission makes the ultimate decision how the dollars are spent, Sheriff Hall would like to see the money used to buy new patrol cars, and new computers.
