Santa Rosa Young Professionals (SRYP) strive to help all citizens get informed this campaign season by hosting a political forum and publishing a county-wide 2010 voter’s guide.
The political forum, co-sponsored by the Santa Rosa County Chamber of Commerce and SRYP, will be held on July 27 at the Santa Rosa County Auditorium beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a 30 minute candidate meet and greet. Starting promptly at 6 p.m., candidates running for State Senate, State Representative, County Commission, School Board and Circuit Judge will have three minutes to share why they should be elected. The event will be emceed by WEAR-TV morning anchor, Bree Sison. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.
Barbecue sandwich meals will be sold for $5. Desserts, coffee and other beverages will be available for a nominal fee. All proceeds from the event will benefit the SAFER Santa Rosa Safer Kid’s project. In-kind sponsors include Red Barn BBQ, Buffalo Rock and Nouveau Pastries.
SRYP representatives will be distributing voter’s guides at the following events: Jay Historical Society Oldtime Political Rally, Gulf Breeze Chamber Candidate’s Forum and the SRYP Political Forum. A copy of the guide can also be found online at www.sryp.org. The guide is sponsored by Santa Rosa Medical Center and was created by Insight Marketing Communications.
“It’s part of our mission to get involved in the community and make a positive impact on our County,” said Jayer Williamson, president of the SRYP. “The voter’s guide and the forum will allow us to help hundreds of citizens get informed and learn more about the candidates who will be making decisions that impact our future,” Williamson added.
