Scarborough reports on newspapers audience ratings

The Scarborough Research group (not the local Scaboroughs) has released its annual audience ratings report for daily newspapers. The News Journal is in the #59 largest market which is includes Mobile & Baldwin counties, Al. Because the market is split over a state line, both the PNJ and the Mobile Press Register have significantly less market share than the dailies in the other markets – PNJ 29%, MPR 42%.

According to the report, the PNJ’s website has 56,000 average readers a week. Our website – inweekly.net – has jumped to 28,750 per week, which puts us at half of the daily. Not to bad for weekly paper with a staff of five.
