School Board needs to table Camelot decision

Rebekah Allen’s story ( Camelot questioned over allegations of force) on the firm that Superintendent Malcolm Thomas wants to have takeover the alternative schools raises many questions. The first issue is the lack of time for the School Board to study the issue – the background material on the $1.8 million contract with Camelot Schools of Pennsylvania wasn’t given to the board members until late yesterday afternoon.

Second issue – Was a request for proposals formally made? A contract of this size and scope might be best made open to all potential operators.

Third issue – The PNJ article reveals allegations of force used by Camelot staff in their schools. Will the quality of education offered be better or worse than what the students currently receive?
