Simple solution to fund skate park

The News Journal reports that the Pensacola City Council is having trouble finding $800,000 to build the Blake Doyle Community Park proposed by Upward Intuition. Mayor Ashton Hayward has celebrated the contribuions to the project, but he didn’t include it in the Local Option Sales Tax Series IV budget.

The simplest solution is to cut the allocation for the Bayview Community Center to its original $6-million budget. At the figure, the Bayview center still would be twice as expensive as the Woodland Heights and Legion Field centers that were built four years ago.
