Associated Press reports:

Gannett Co.’s July revenue fell 12.3 percent as retailers cut back on ad spending and classified ads continued to shrink, the largest U.S. newspaper publisher said Friday.

For the month ended Aug. 3, the McLean, Va.-based company, which publishes USA Today, said revenue fell to $546.4 million from $622.9 million a year ago.
