T. T. Wentworth, Jr. Museum: ‘From the Vault’

The University of West Florida Historic Trust has a new exhibit—”From The Vault: Why and What we Collect”—at the T. T. Wentworth, Jr. Florida State Museum. The exhibit, consisting of more than 120 artifacts, showcases some historical, strange, beautiful and fascinating pieces from the UWF Historic Trust collection.

“We all collect for many reasons, including pure enjoyment, nostalgia for the past, and to create a legacy, a gift to the future,” said Wanda Edwards, chief curator for the UWF Historic Trust. “Whatever the reason, our collections are an extension of who we are.”

Visitors will explore collecting by individuals, community organizations and museums through areas highlighting T. T. Wentworth Jr., the Pensacola Historical Society and the UWF Historic Trust. Visitors will also learn more about artifacts with compelling stories, including the iconic Gulf Breeze UFO model. A special “What is It?” area will engage visitors by challenging them to identify unusual objects form the collection.

The T. T. Wentworth, Jr. Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
