The St. Pete Times reported yesterday the flyer mailed by the PAC going be the name Florida Is Our Home Inc. overstates the impact of Amendment 1 on public schools by $2 billion. It also omits the cuts are over five years.
What the St. Pete Times missed is that Florida Is Our Home, Inc. has the same street address the Florida Education Association – 213 S. Adams St. Tallahassee, FL 32301 – although they did quote Andy Ford, president of the Florida Education Association. FEA is the state teachers union that was formed in 2000 when two education associations, Florida Teaching Profession-NEA and FEA/United, merged.
