Chief Executive Officer of The Arc Gateway, Charles Brewer, has announced that he will retire from the organization at the end of the year.

I’ve had the privilege of working with many talented and committed employees, board members, clients and community partners,” said Brewer. Going forward, I believe The Arc Gateway is well positioned for more innovation and growth in the future. This has been a rewarding experience, and I am honored to have been a part of the missions to serve persons with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

Brewer served as president and CEO of Health First Network, Inc. for 13 years, and after retiring for one day when he volunteered to serve as Interim CEO in January 2013 following the passing of Donna Fassett, the agency’s late executive director, and was selected as Permanent CEO in May 2013. Additionally, he has worked for Sacred Heart Health Systems for two years and prior to that spent 27 years in health insurance, managed care and health care financing in Louisiana. Prior to his employment, Brewer served as treasurer for the Arc Gateway Board of Directors for two of his three years on the board and as a trustee on the Arc Gateway Foundation.

The Board of Directors has appointed a special committee to direct the process for Brewer’s replacement. This committee is chaired by Todd Torgersen, Board of Director’s Vice-President and includes other leaders at Arc Gateway.
