Three 2008 developments never happened

Jan. 1, 2008, Carlton Proctor wrote in the daily newspaper about six commercial and residential projects under way in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties should “pump hundreds of millions of dollars into the local economy and help keep the jobless rate near all-time lows.”

A year later, only Seashells Collections in Gulf Breeze is open and another as broken ground – $27 million expansion of the Pall Corporation at Ellyson.

Three are delayed or have fallen apart completely are:

* Jubilee – 2700+ acre residential community in Pace area.

* Hawkshaw Village – near Gulf Power off Bayfront Parkway.

* Gulfview Marina on Bayou Chico (old Runyan Shipyard)

One more – Indigo Hotel on Pensacola Beach – is still being discussed. It’s slated to open in mid-2010.
