Unlimited building for Perdido

The Escambia County commissioners voted last night to remove the residential building cap for Perdido Key. Currently, a maximum of 7,150 residential units are allowed. The Florida Dept. of Community Affairs will have to approve the change because it amends the county’s comprehensive land plan.

DCA has been reluctant to allow unfettered growth in other parts of the state so it will be interesting to see what happens. Whether the amendment is approved or not, this is a smart political move by the commission. They will now be able to blame the state for the building restrictions on Perdido Key
