The Northwest Florida Daily News reports the Walton County Clerk of Courts Alex Alford and his staff will no longer conduct wedding ceremonies at the courthouse. Alford joins Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties in halting courthouse weddings before they had to deal with same sex marriages

Alford told the Daily News was: “We feel it’s in the best interest of the Clerk’s Office not to perform them.”

In a news release, he said the decision was based on “limited resources and facilities.”

Editor’s Note: If Alford, Santa Rosa Clerk Donald Spencer and Okaloosa Clerk JD Peacock objected to same-sex marriages, the proper protest should have been to resign from office. Instead they are punishing all their citizens.
