Local TV station reported July 4 on the audit. Pensacola News Journal remains silent – not even a news brief or “Newsy Neighbors” segment on it.

WEAR Transcript: A recent audit shows many of Escambia County’s Volunteer Fire Fighters are *overpaid and *under qualified. We have a follow up now to the five month investigation… Where the County Clerk Of Courts Office found over 50 thousand dollars in overpaid stipends to volunteer firefighters.The audit also found that less than half of volunteers have met the most basic state training standards. The audit was given to county commissioners this week for their review and recommendations.
