Having dodged prosecution by the State Attorney’s Office, the Santa Rosa County Commission has passed unanimously a new email policy. According to the Daily News, the new policy mandates that all e-mails commissioners receive be automatically copied to the county’s e-mail server to be kept as a permanent record. The policy also prohibits commissioners from communicating with one another by e-mail.
It’s been a tough year for the commissioners. First, Gov. Charlie Crist’s Open Government agency tells them that TEAM Santa Rosa must follow the same open records and Sunshine rules as other county agencies. Then Comm. Gordon Goodin is forced to report his trip to the private island of developer Bill Pullum. Last month, they were given a strong warning by the SAO to clean up their act. Bill Eddin didn’t go “Valentino” on them, but the commissioners were apparently listening.
