Press release: The YMCA of Northwest Florida will announce the next major gift to their campaign for a new downtown facility on Wednesday, March 4, at 9:30 am at the Downtown YMCA, 410 N. Palafox St.

This significant six-figure gift comes from a local family with deep roots in the community. The family will present a check to Board Chair Jon Kagan, who will be joined by Mayor Ashton Hayward, members of the Y board and the staff of the Y, and former YMCA CEO Skip Vogelsang. Other major donors to the project, including Quint Studer, Teri Levin, David Bear (Bear Family Foundation) and David Deliman (Cox), will attend.

Fundraising and project development are ongoing. YMCA leadership have indicated they will break ground on the new facility later this year and anticipate the new Y will open in late 2016. It will be built on approximately 1 acre of land at the southwest corner of Intendencia and Tarragona, just south of the current Pensacola News Journal building.
