Today the Pensacola News Journal reported that Patrick Gonzalez, Jr. told investigators that Byrd Billings, the man who Gonzalez is accused of killing, had given him money to open a martial arts studio. Read searchwarrant.
We have wondered if there were any other possible connections between Gonzalez and Billings. We could find no direct link, but there is one between Gonzalez and a family who did business with the Billingses.
A review of the arrest report of Patrick Gonzalez, Jr. shows that he worked around 1999 for Hondaland Used Cars (gonzalezjr AR).
We went to the website of the Florida Secretary of State and reviewed the filings for Hondaland Used Cars, Inc. We found a resignation of Registered Agent by T. Harrison Duke that is copied to Wayne Peterson of Gulf Breeze and Henry Cabell Tice of Daphne, Ala. Read Hondaland. A fair assumption would be that Peterson and Tice were partners in the business.
We could find no connection between Peterson and Billings.
However, we found the State of Florida Uniform Commercial Code Financing Statement between Hispanic-American Auto Sales/Henry Tice and Worldco Financial Services.
It is for all the vehicle inventory, parts and accessories, etc at Hispanic-American Auto Sales.

So we have Patrick Gonzalez working for a used car sales dealership that Henry “Cab” Tice partially owned.
We have a business connection between the Billings’s company, Worldco Financial and Cab Tice and his used car dealership. We checked with a couple dealers in Car City and Cab Tice is a well known used car dealer/wholesaler, although a few weren’t aware if he was still active in the Pensacola market.
It is possible that Gonzalez may have met Billings while working for Tice.
We asked Sgt. Ted Roy, the Public Information Officer of the ECSO, if Henry “Cab” Tice was a person of interest in the Billings murders. He would neither confirm or deny it.

We were friendly and still have connections with some of our friends from Abingdon. Even after all of these years. You obviously have nothing better to do than slander folks. I will never believe Cab Tice had anything to do with the murders.He is alot smarter than that.When he was in Columbia he could have stayed.Instead he came back and told the truth. Anything nice Bud may have done,you had better believe there was an underlying motive he would somehow profit from it.He ruined many people,with his greed.
I knew both Massie and Cabell as teenagers in SW Virginia – I’m not the least bit surprised that they are involved in criminal activity.
Cab was not an honest man, thats why there are law suits against him. The Billings were honest hardworking people and tats how tey made their living. They took in those children because they had the heart and the income to provide, support, and love every one of them. Extensive background checks are done each time they adopted, something would’ve shown up already. He may have worked near shady people, but he was not one of them…he tried to help everyone he could; second chances.. not something most people do these days. There is no reason that someone should be murdered, brutally at that. So for everyone that wants to talk foolishly should think about keeping it to themselves or getting the facts. If you didn’t know them then you should have nothing to say about their lives. They were wonderful people and everyone who knew them knows how great they were..

According to WEAR TV 6PM local news, Henry “Cab” Tice is considered a person of interest and LE wants to speak with him. A WEAR reporter went to a car lot were he is known to work, and they said he was out of town. LE has not been able to locate him.

I have done business with Cab Tice and he is a scum bag. He is well known for his shady dealing. Even is he had nothing to do with this murder, which I doubt. I would love to see him go down. It would be a JUST REWARD “KARMA” and I would love to see it bring him down. The world would be a better place if we could get rid of the parasites like cab tice. If they can’t find him and were to stupid to take away his past port. He is probably some where in south or central america. He even ordered a mail order bride form Central america. While he was still married. Every one in the car dealership knew that cab had something to do with it. The morning after the murder the ECSD they received a phone call stating that they thought cab had something to do with it. So why did they let him get away. If I lived in Escambia county I would not be writing this. Because of fear of reprisal from ECSD.

I think it is possible that the person who signed their name “Massie” above may be Cab Tice’s brother. I believe that Cab Tice has a brother named Thornton Massie Tice, but he sometimes goes by his middle name. He is also a journalist, I believe. If he left an email address, it might be an interesting contact for you. Just a suggestion.
I worked with cab tice, and he anything but respectable man, more the opposite. he is a great sales person, but not in a good way, he is a snake. He is anything but forthright in his busines dealings. Wayne Peterson and Cab are good friends, and signed as POA for bueno-bonito-barata auto when cab was part of that business and also for his other car lot. i went to work for him at his hispanic-american auto sales after he left bueno bonito, and he always drunk and constantly yelling at his sales people. His ex-wife debbie is crazy too. cab is one of the shadyest people i have ever met! and hate to say this but i knew bud billings and he was not the wholesome man everyone thinks he is. the things i know that him and cab were involved in noone would beleive.
Think about what you all are saying about the bilings family.They adopted 12 children.That takes alot of reserching the family for them to even be able to adopt all of those children!!!!They couldnt have been all that bad,regarles if they made bad buiness desitions thay didnt deserve to be killed and most of all thier kids didnt deserve to lose thier parents because of someones stupid selfish horible acks.
Cabell Tice is honest and forthright in all of his business dealings. I have know him most of his life and he is a dedicated hard worker and a family man. It is unfortunate that this smear is going on. Unfortunately that’s the way the Florida auto market has going. Cab hires Mexican immigrants in order to help that community as well as selling cars to them at reasonable prices. He is a man with a heart for the down trodden and those who suffer need. His wife, Deb is a hard working interior decorator. They have worked hard all of their lives. It is a shame that their name (Tice) is being besmirched by unscrupulous people with hidden agendas.
Billing’s ex-wife stated last week that;
“He ALWAYS dealt with shady people”.
Not saying that he or his wife deserved to be harmed at all.
But when you run in those circles, bad things can happen, and that appears to be the case here unfortunately.

Based on court records, etc., it seems Mr. Billing’s had been lying down with dogs for more than a few years.
@Sandman : Your are kidding right? How can you suspect that at all?
I am inclined to agree with Sandman’s comments. Something stinks. No one should be murdered, but something definitly stinks.
I suspect sooner or later it’s going to become crystal clear that Billing’s was dirty and that his murder was a direct result of some of his shady business dealings.
Gonzalez worked for Allen Turner as a car salesman several years ago.
