City reaches tentative agreement with firefighters union

City of Pensacola Chief Operations Officer Tamara Fountain informed the city council yesterday that city staff and leaders of the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 707 have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract.

“The tentative agreement will allow the city to address concerns raised by the firefighters while continuing to reduce the City’s unfunded pension liability,” Fountain wrote in her memo.

The details were not released, but promised to be “made available in the coming days.”

The agreement will be presented to full union membership for ratification. If ratified, then it will be brought forward to the city council for approval.
