Creative Learning offers merit scholarships

Creative Learning Academy has launched a new program that provides academic scholarships to high-achieving students. CLA will offer a limited number of selective, merit-based scholarships to attract and recognize students who exhibit outstanding academic ability, demonstrate exceptional character and have a desire to contribute to the CLA culture and mission.

The program is open to students who are new to CLA and those currently enrolled. It will cover up to 50% of the regular tuition rate for one academic year and can be renewed for one additional year. Recipients of the Merit Scholarship Award are eligible to apply for financial assistance and receive funding in addition to the scholarship based on individual need.

“In addition to our need-based program, the Merit Scholarship Program will provide an opportunity for a greater number of students to benefit from the advantages of a CLA education,” said Kim Stafford, Head of School.

To be eligible for a merit scholarship, a student must be entering Grades 4 – 7, complete the CLA admissions process or be a re-enrolled CLA student, and complete the CLA Merit Scholarship Application. Students must have standardized test scores in the 85th percentile on a national or state-normed assessment and have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale).

Creative Learning Academy is Pensacola’s premier preparatory school for preprimary (age 3) through 8th grade students. CLA provides a rigorous and challenging educational experience that goes beyond the usual definitions of academic excellence, empowering students to become confident lifelong achievers. Students develop the critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and self-motivation that distinguish our graduates and inspire them to excel in IB and advanced placement programs in high school and beyond.

CLA will host two events for families and students to learn more about the merit scholarships and the many benefits of a rigorous and innovative academic program. On Tuesday, February 7th the Academic Showcase will take place on campus at 6:00 p.m. and the school will host an open visitation day on Tuesday, February 21st beginning at 8:00 a.m.

  1. Hi Rick,
I love CLA – I was a Latin and English teacher there for several years, and also the Co-Head of School for a couple. The CLA Merit Scholarship Program is a wonderful program, but it is not new at CLA. As far as I know, it was started during the time Michelle White and I were CLA Co-Heads of School. I’m not sure whether there were similar programs at CLA before that time. There are several students in college today who were recipients of a merit scholarship from CLA. I know them well because I interviewed and taught them all. We started the program to increase enrollment, and to acknowledge and reward outstanding students in our Pensacola community. I’m very much in favor of the return of this wonderful program. Congratulations to the CLA administration and Board of Trustees for this decision.
If you’d like any further details, please let me know and I’ll look into it.
    Sincerely,
    Sarah (Kelly) Kinnear
