In an InWeekly/Political Matrix poll of 914 likely Florida voters; 56.1% support the legalizing of recreational marijuana for use as well as purchase. We also found the nearly the same amount, 54.5% support raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour.
When it comes to the issues of gun legislation, 80.1% say they want to leave the age at 21 instead of lowering it to the previous age of 18. This must be huge disappointment to State Rep. Mike Hill who has sponsored a bill (HB 6003) that would remove the prohibition on persons younger than 21 years of age from purchasing firearms.
I predict Hill will spend another session isolated in the timeout corner with his Trump coloring book.
Finally, we found that when it comes to issues like these they feel as though the decisions should be made by the voters through a ballot initiative, rather than by lawmakers in Tallahassee. The numbers on this were overwhelming with 78.4% wanting ballot choice leaving just 17.2% supporting Tallahassee making the decisions.

Currently there is discussion with placing on the Florida ballot, the raising of the minimum wage to $15 an hour by the year 2026. This issue has been part of a national debate championed by several national political leaders, most notably Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).

Next, we see that 80.1% of the respondents supported the keeping of the age limit to 21 for the purchasing of a shotgun or rifle. Only 16.4% supported lowering it back to age 18. When we asked this question back in March, we say that 60.5% wanted the age to be at least 21 and 34% said it should remain at 18 while 5.5% were then undecided. This shows a definitive change to the attitude of likely voters with regards to purchasing of firearms.

Finally, we asked the respondent if they thought issues, such as these, should be decided in Tallahassee, or if they should be decided by citizens through ballot initiatives. What we found was not much of a surprise, the voters want a voice. We see that only 17.2% thought Tallahassee should be making these decisions while 78.4% are wanting issues to be decided by ballot initiatives.

METHODOLOGY:
The persons sampled were likely Florida voters with a voting score of 100% for the general election cycles. The voters called were those only with landlines and were called using an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system and were called during the hours of 3PM to 5PM on November 3. The Margin of Error for this study is +/- 4.5% with a confidence level of 95%.
