Breaking News: State commission approves name change for Wentworth museum

Florida Historical Commission approved changing the name of the T.T. Wentworth Museum to the Pensacola Museum of History at the University of West Florida.  The change comes after records were uncovered that revealed T.T. Wentworth was a former cyclops of the Ku Klux Klan in the 1920s – Read “Who Gets to Tell the Story.”

The next steps are an official letter from the State Historic Preservation Officer confirming same. Then UWF Historic Trust forwards that letter to the Internal Improvement Trust Fund.

  1. Richard,

“Are they going to give his family his stuff back”

The Wentworth family and foundation is in full support of this decision and are actively working to find solutions to “right the wrongs” of their family’s past.

  2. Are they going to give his family his stuff back. It’s terrible that he was a member of this group , but if you are going to keep his stuff , that’s a little out there. You should not keep stuff that was donated by a member of the kkk, it’s tainted.
