The GOP presidential polling continues to be bad for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and very good for Donald Trump.
Quinnipiac: Trump is now at 62% support, 5 points up from August. DeSantis, now at 12% support, is 6 points down,. No other candidate has more than 6%.
Washinton Post/Monmounth: In South Carolina, DeSantis is now in fourth place – Donald Trump (46%), former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (18%) and U.S. Sen. Tim Scott (10%), DeSantis (9%). No other candidate has more than 5% support.

Gaetz interviews creates ripples
My interview with former Florida Senate President Don Gaetz created news around the state as we learned that he is considering running for his old seat.
Why this matters
Papa Gaetz was extremely effective lawmaker when he served from 2006-2016. He found the funding to build the Chappie James bridge to avoid making it a toll bridge. He was the architect of Triumph Gulf Coast.
He isn’t afraid to take on a governor, senate leadership or lobbyists.
What did he say
Baptist Announces Moving Schedule
Baptist Hospital will be moving patients from its E Street location to its new campus at the corner of Brent Lane and I-110 in Pensacola on Saturday, Sept. 23. Both Baptist Hospital campuses at E Street and Brent Lane will be closed to the public.
- The new Baptist Hospital Emergency Room on Brent Lane will open at 3 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, and the ER on E Street will close simultaneously.
- On Sunday, Sept. 24, the Brent Lane campus will begin regular hours of operation.
- The Bear Family Foundation Health Center will open on Tuesday, Sept. 26.
Gaetz: And it better positions him to run for Governor. We are all tired of “crazy.”
Baptist: Baptist should admit its failure to live up to its commitment to the “old campus” neighborhood and scramble to leave behind an Urgent Care capability in the spaces that we know are functional because they are still being used today. The link below describes the services provided by Baptist Urgent Care. The Baptist Medical Park – Airport where no one lives nearby is staffed by at least two Doctors, three Physician Assistants and two Nurse Practitioners. It is open 7 days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. By the way, because the new hospital was built in part using the proceeds from bonds issued by the Escambia County Health Financing Authority, you would have thought the “deal” required Baptist to provide medical services at or near the old campus. The Board of County Commissioners should be directing the City Attorney to review ever document it can find to see if there is a way to force Baptist to live up to its obligation. By the way, in today’s PNJ reporting Mollye Barrows did not report that the hospital built is significantly smaller than the original design. What was cut? Barrows did report that the new hospital will have 264 patient beds. How does that number compare to the current Baptist Hospital? Wikipedia says that the current hospital has 492 beds. A “Healthcare Compare” website says the number is 569. The American Hospital Directory reports “Total Staffed Beds” as 339. It would be interesting to know if the community is getting more “or” less capability. https://www.ebaptisthealthcare.org/BaptistMedicalGroup/Practice/baptist-urgent-care
