On Nov. 13, 2018, the Escambia County School Board approved the district’s Strategic Plan 2018-2019 that set a goal that the district would increase the percentage of students scoring satisfactory (achievement level 3) or higher on statewide standardized assessments to be equal or greater than the state average.
Of the 14 assessment tests, the district only exceeded the state average once – in elementary school science.

Learning Gains
The school board set as goals to increase the learning gains for all student and for the lowest quartile to be a percentage equal or higher than state average.
The district met neither goal but did improve three percentage points in gains for English Language Arts and one point in Math. For the lowest quartile, the ELA improved and Math improved two points.

Reading Plan
In its 2018-19 K-12 Comprehensive Research-Based Reading Plan, the district set its performance goals for ELA 2018-19 (52%) and 2019-2020 (55%). The district had 50% on grade level or higher – two points short of the goal.
For Learning gains: 2018-19 Goal: 52% Actual: 51%. The goal for 2019-2020 is 54%.
