Here We Go Again: Third Ed Commish Gets Presidency

The News Service of Florida reports that Florida Education Commissioner Anastasios Kamoutsas was named the sole finalist in Polk State College’s presidential search on Wednesday.

The college announced Kamoutsas will make a campus visit on June 3, and the board will make a recommendation that afternoon.

“Throughout the search process, he emerged as a candidate with a compelling vision for the future of Polk State College and a deep understanding of the College’s mission and impact across the region,” the press release stated.

In a post on X, Kamoutsas said it was “an honor to be blessed with this opportunity.”

“I am excited to contribute to that work in a new capacity while continuing to support strong partnerships between K-12 schools, colleges, and universities,” he wrote.

Kamoutsas was named the 29th education commissioner in June 2025. Previously, he was the deputy chief of staff for Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Last November, Kamoutsas’ wife, Judge Rachel Kamoutsas, was appointed by DeSantis to the Sixth District Court of Appeal in Lakeland.

On the bright side, he would be the next president of Pensacola State College.
