Two days after Inweekly reported that West Florida Hospital had collected less than three-percent of all COVID-19 specimens, the Escambia County Emergency Operations Center reports that hospitals set a record for collections.
According to the EOC, hospitals collected 261 specimens on Monday – nearly four times more that Monday, March 30. Overall, the EOC reports the county facilities, including drive-thrus, collected 410 specimens – the most in a single day. The previous high was Wednesday, April 1 – 289 collections.
Over the past 24 hours, Escambia had 27 more cases, total 168, according to the 6 p.m. DOH dashboard. The county now has 15 COVID-19 hospitalizations. No more deaths since 11 a.m., today – total 2.
