ATU Local 1395 president Mike Lowery was my guest on NewsTalk 1370 WCOA this morning. We discussed his challenges getting former County Administrator Janice Gilley to take COVID seriously and protect county workers.
Toward the end of the interview, Lowery said, “Unfortunately, we’re getting reports now that since the increase of the Delta variant is hit our community, we’re getting reports that at the road department, at the solid waste landfill, that employees are getting COVID and we’ve even had a report that unfortunately one worker passed away from COVID just recently.”
He added, “The members out there are getting very nervous, and they’re reporting that the county is not doing a very good job giving them their PPE or what they need to protect themselves.”
