State charges illegal poker games at Pensacola Greyhound Park

On Aug. 17, the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation filed an administrative complaint against Pensacola Greyhound Racing LLP for operating a “banking” game not specifically authorized by Florida law on several tables at the facility on Aug. 11.

In banking poker games, there is one player, the banker, who competes against each of the other players individually. Blackjack is a banking game.

The Seminole Tribe of Florida is the only casino operator in the state allowed to run banking games.

The Pensacola track and card room is managed and operated by Alabama’s Poarch Band of Creek Indians. They have a right to request a hearing within 21 days.
