After spending four hours reviewing dozens of proposals for out-of-school time programs in late November, the grant committee chair Tori Woods made a motion at the full board meeting last week to send the recommendations, totaling $4.3 million, back to the committee for more review. Only one board member voted against her motion.
Why? Local providers and board members pointed out several inconsistencies in the review process established by the Trust staff. The lack of preparation for the meeting caused delays in starting the discussion at the grant review meeting.
Proposers were not allowed to answer questions, and the review committee and staff made incorrect assumptions about the proposals. Some proposals were given special treatment, and staff did nothing to verify information in the proposals.

Thank you for shining a light on such utter darkness.
Thank you for this on point summary, Rick. I had a friend text me this morning “If you want people to read your stuff, you need to get to the point more quickly.”
Fair enough. The TLDR version of my previous comment is the following:
As usual, Mr. Lewis is smack talking about County business he clearly doesn’t understand.
Trust staff needs to pick up their game and correct the processes with the simple fix of employing standard best practices.
If Patty Hightower wants to own the Trust’s By-Laws and Policy, she needs to stop building in inadequacies that provide her with room to maneuver, and start cleaning up the grey areas she’s helping to foster.
