Governor tells Sheriff Morgan state will fund SROs

This morning Escambia County Commission chairman Jeff Bergosh put off any discussion on allocations of the LET funds while he determined if the funds should be used for adding more school resource officers (SROs) to area public schools.

Sheriff David Morgan contacted Inweekly. He said, “We asked the Governor about initial as well as continued funding for the expansion of school safety programs and the associated SROs. We were assured that the funding for sustaining the programs would be provided by the state.”

He added, “The funds will be deposited into the respective sheriff’s budgets.”
