Praise for law enforcement re: bomb threat

Last week, we reported a bomb threat that had made on PensaCon’s website. Organizers later confirmed the report and stated that security had been increased at the three-day event.

U.S. Attorney Lawrence Keefe today praised the law enforcement community for “working diligently through the weekend to keep the Pensacon event safe for all participants.”

“Protecting our communities from cyber threats of fraud or violence requires constant vigilance, and much of the work takes place behind the scenes,” U.S. Attorney Keefe said. “I am grateful for the Pensacola Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, as well as staff in my own office for safeguarding this event.”

Pensacola Police Chief Lyter added, “I am thankful for the great working relationship we have with our federal and state law enforcement partners and the Bay Center staff. These partnerships helped ensure that the citizens and guests attending the Pensacon event remained safe during the entire weekend.”
